2026 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Purpose: To provide outstanding KJLS exhibitors’ support for future educational endeavors through scholarships.

Awards: KJLS reserves the right to award eight to 15 scholarships annually in varying amounts from $750 to $2,500.

Eligibility:
  • Must be an exhibitor in 2026 KJLS.
  •  Must be a current high school senior with plans to enroll in a post-secondary educational program or be currently enrolled in post-secondary school.
  • Must not have previously received a KJLS scholarship.
  • Must not be a family member of a Scholarship Selection Committee member.

Application requirements (ALL MATERIALS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY AUGUST 15, 2026):
  • Complete the online application form. (The 2026 application will be posted soon.)
  • The following must be submitted with the application:
  • Two letters of reference, one of which must be from your county 4-H agent or FFA advisor
  • A letter to the Selection Committee outlining your future educational plans  
  • A high school transcript and, if applicable, a college transcript
  • A listing of courses in which you are enrolled for the current fall semester

Selection criteria:
  • 4-H/FFA activities and leadership (40 points)
  •  School activities and leadership (30 points)
  • Academic Information (20 points)
  • Participation in Kansas Junior Livestock Show (20 points)
  • Other activities, leadership and work experience (30 points)
  • References (20 points)
  • Career Plans (20 points)
  • Honors (20 points)

Selection and Award Process:
  • Applications will be reviewed by a committee made up of at least three people selected by the KJLS Executive Committee.
  • The Scholarship Selection Committee has the sole responsibility and discretion of determining the eligibility and recipients of the scholarships given. The committee decision shall be final.
  • Payment of the scholarships will be made directly to 4-H/FFA members and their school upon proof of full-time enrollment in a post-secondary educational program and payment of tuition.
  • A scholarship must be used within three years after the day it was awarded.
